If you, like me, are a renter in Upstate NY with a yearly lease, do you know the answer to the following question: Do you have any rights regarding how much your rent is increased every year, and why?

The answer to this question is, under the current laws, status and regulations, an unfortunate amalgam of "yes" and "no".

In this Blog, I will share my recent struggles as a tenant with a local leasing company that operates locally in Troy, NY, East Greenbush NY, and Albany NY. Although I am strongly tempted to share the name of the company with the readers, I have discovered that the real issue is a larger one, one that needs to be addressed through changes in legislation, statutes and/or regulation. The current state of things allows any leasing company and any landlord to commit abuses against their tenants simply for economic gain.

If you, or anybody you know, is a renter in upstate New York, you may find this blog helpful and informative in letting you know what you can or cannot do, and how we can get together to fight for change.

Thank you, and I hope to see you at my next entry!
